The big question on the minds of engaged couples is whether or not to go through with wedding plans in the coming weeks and months.
It is a bummer for those couples who have been counting down the days to when they say “I DO!” Even if the wedding party has to be rescheduled maybe there is a fun way you can still tie the knot.
We have compiled 5 fun alternatives for your wedding during the Coronavirus ( Covid-19 ) pandemic. I know that these wedding alternatives are not the same as getting all of your friends and family together at a sweet venue, but these might be some great ways to stop your marriage from being put on hold.
1. Elopement Wedding
The date is reserved, the photographer, the videographer, and all other vendors are already booked. Maybe you can still opt in for an elopement style wedding? As we are slowly allowed to go back into public together, the amount of people that can gather may still be limited. The beautiful thing about an elopement is that it is meant to be smaller and more interment event. Here are some elopement ideas and examples
2. Getting Married Through a Video Game
Virtual Marriages are not new. In fact people have been getting married via W.O.W. (World of Warcraft) and The Sims for years. What is fun about getting married in The Sims is you can do a test run of living together and having a child virtually! ☻
The new kid on the block Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch has also been popular for virtual weddings. Not only has it been a way for couples to continue with their wedding date, but people are also holding graduations, birthday parties and more.
What makes these option even better is how easy it is to live stream and record the game play with your real life reactions. Devices and services such as the Elgato cam link and OBS allows you to simply hook up a nice camera and live stream the event. This might be something your videographer can help out with. They already had the date reserved anyhow right?☻
3. Live Stream Your Wedding
Honestly live streaming could apply to any of these 5 alternatives, but lets get into specifics. If we are still asked to “shelter in place” that doesn’t have to stop you from hosting a wedding ceremony in your living room.
Get as crazy as you want. Pull out the dress, the tux, decorations…..or just show up in your sweatpants and a t shirt. Platforms such as ZOOM, SKYPE, and Google Hangout make it super simple to live stream with a group of friends and family. You can even add your officiant to the call so you can make this official. Better yet what if you provide your guests with a dinner receipt or a Hello Fresh order so you can all sit down and eat a reception dinner together over the computer. Some extra information on getting this set up can be found HERE
4. LEGO Wedding
This one will take a little more work, but what if you got a look a like LEGO person of you, your fiance, and maybe some of your guests and hosted a mini sized wedding? Even better you could ship the LEGOS to your photographer(s) and/or videographer(s) and have them take some portraits and candid shots for you in LEGO form.
Lastly, there is nothing wrong with wanting to keep things the same, but move the wedding to a different date later in the year. Just make sure to check in with your venue and all of your vendors so you can keep the same wedding you have been dreaming about since the big question was popped.
